Up Ahead

Wow. It's been awhile folks.. Let's just chalk it up to I was pregnant with my second child/had  my second child/having two kids is way harder than one/running on little to no sleep/unmotivated. K?
 I've never been a big fan of playing catch up. It takes too much time and then I feel like I am just posting about what has happened since my last post vs. actually getting to what I actually wanted to post. So here is a very short synopsis of our life at the moment.
1. Samuel is here. He is perfect. He is the most smiley, handsome, easygoing baby I have ever met. I think Josh and I are amazed everyday how much we can love this little boy.
2. Sadie is 90% potty trained! Yes!
3. Josh just finished his second semester in nursing school and will take his LPN exam this summer.
4. I am still adjusting to having two children. Maybe it's just me but that transition was HARD.
5. Josh teaches primary for the 8-9 year olds and I am the Teachings of our Time teacher in relief society. I'm pretty pumped I get to teach from General Conference.

Now to what I wanted to post. Nothing super deep but it made me laugh. I took Sadie and Sam on a walk today around the neighborhood and Sadie and I were in search of puddles left behind from the rainstorm yesterday. I would spot a puddle a distance away and I would say "Sadie! Look there's a puddle up there!" so what did Sadie do? She looked up to the sky of course! Ha! It made me laugh that without any hesitation she trusted that there must be a puddle up in the sky. So I tried to think of another way to say it I said "Sadie! Look there's a puddle up ahead!" to which she promptly stuck her hands on her head and again looked up to the sky and then asked "there's a puddle up on my head?" Oh Sadie, you crack me up everyday. Hope this post finds you all well. I am -overwhelmed by/completely in love with- my life at the moment.

Random Facts About Josh

Today is Josh's 26th birthday and so I thought I might do a little post about him. I sure do love this husband of mine.
1. One of Josh's pet peeves is when people are going into or leaving a store (or really any place) and they use the exit to enter or vice versa.
2. Not only was Josh a debt collector for a couple of years he also is a collector of certain random items. A few of these being notebooks, scriptures, backpacks, and water bottles
3. Josh likes his church shirts to be super white. If they start to have even a hint of yellow he wants a new one.
4. Josh could write an encyclopedia of ways people are bad at driving.
5. Josh loves a clean windshield. I think we go through windshield wiper fluid twice a fast as normal people because he cleans the windshield almost every time we get in the car.
6. Josh's favorite comfort food is spaghetti.
7. Josh can eat a tomato like you eat an apple
8. Josh likes to tell people who he's meeting for the first time that the puncture wounds in his arm from giving plasma are actually from having chemo treatments and to back up his story he tells them that the chemo is the reason he shaves his head. (Don't worry, he doesn't let the joke go on for long)
9. Josh likes to be neat and organized. At least once a month we are going through some cabinet or closet or car or the refrigerator to clean it and reorganize it.
10. Josh's go to food when he doesn't want to cook and we don't have leftovers is spaghetti O's (blech!)
11. Josh isn't a gamer by any means but when he does want to play a video game it's 007 on the old Nintendo 64
12. Josh loves a clean car.
13. His celebrity crush is Beyonce
14. Josh lived in Africa for two years as a missionary for the LDS Church.
15. While Josh was in Africa, he was privileged to eat such delicacies as bush rat, chicken feet/ bones, and fish heads
16.When Josh and I first started dating he had just gotten back from Africa and he would make all these unusual clicking and whistling sounds as well as hand gestures that I didn't understand. I remember thinking "ok? this guy is a little weird....."
17. Josh once dated a girl who now owns her very own marijuana pipe shop. Maybe one day I'll own my very own thrift store or snow globe shop and one up his old girlfriend.
18. Josh rarely holds back what he is thinking or his opinion for other people. It's good to have conviction, but sometimes it puts ME in a really awkward position. Josh really doesn't care if he offends people.
19. Josh's favorite movie is Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
20. Josh has a very specific type of floss that he likes to use and sometimes it's hard to find so I have to load up on it every time I see it.

There you have it. There is obviously much more to the man that is Josh LaMarr but I thought I'd pay tribute to a few of his little quirks and stories. I'm back in the blogging saddle again!

Dancin' Swimmin' Sewin'

I'm feeling pretty darn productive today and thought I'd brag a little bit about it on the ol' blog. This morning Sadie and I went swimming while Josh went to workout. I don't know if I've said this before but Sadie is a little fish! She absolutely loves going to the pool. On the way to the pool I was able to get a little video of the dance parties Sadie and I have on a regular basis. (FYI I was in the passengers seat and Josh was driving, I'm not that crazy!) I don't know where she gets her moves from because I never really shake my head like that when I dance so I guess she's just finding her own way to get into the music.
p.s - Sorry about the loud music in the video, when we got this car it was suped up with a sub woofer and so the base doesn't mix well with our camera's microphone. I love this song by Colbie Calliat though!

BTW we have an awesome pool! Yeah that's a lazy river in the back left of this picture!

Dipping our feet in the hot tub

After we went to the pool I cooked up some delicious Peppered Shrimp Alfredo and boy was it GOOD! I love this recipe because it calls for cayenne pepper. If you make this don't forget it! It's sooo good and spicy. Instead of cream I just use milk or half n half if I have it. Not only to cut calories but it's already thick enough without adding cream to the mix. I also added some asparagus today because a I got an awesome deal on it at sprouts last week and needed to use it. YUM.
After Sadie woke up I decided that I needed to use some of my Joann's coupons plus I had a gift card with something like $2 on it that needed to be used up! Earlier this week I had a pair of sweatpants that literally unraveled on me and while it unraveled I noticed that it had some awesome elastic inside of the waistband. Time to recycle baby! So while I was at Joann's I picked up some fabric for a cute skirt and I couldn't leave without getting some fabric to make Sadie a little dress. I found a free pattern online and I can't wait to try it.

Maybe when I wear this on Sunday I'll actually let Josh take some pictures of me in it so you can really see how cute it is!

 Once I had picked out all my cute fabric Sadie and I walked the outdoor mall at Centerra and stopped to play and smell the WAY over priced perfumes at Macy's.
 Dear Macy's,
  I will never pay $68 for a fancy bottle of perfume that has 2 ounces or less of actual perfume in it. Even if I had $68 dollars to spend on said perfume I wouldn't because that is ridiculous and I could put that $68 towards something infinitely better and more useful. Don't you know their are people starving all over the world! Sheesh!

 After our perfume smelling Sadie went down for another nap. Hallelujah! And what did I do? Dishes? Laundry? Dusting? Nope. I sewed a skirt! It was fun and took me maybe 30min. Talk about instant gratification! So like I said before you could say I'm feeling pretty accomplished. Plus a blog post about it! I'm on a roll!
Now off to do dishes, laundry, and some tidying up before my handsome Josh gets home. Sleep deprived much? Yes, yes I am.

Sadie's First Haircut w/extras of course...

The other day Sadie had a runny nose and her hair was so long that her bangs were getting caught up in her boogers. GROSS. Since all of my attempts to pull her hair back or put a bow in it to keep it out of her eyes failed I decided we had no other choice but to give it a little trim. As you will notice from the video I am voicing a little bit of an inner mom crisis. I knew it had to be done but it was so hard...I don't know...letting her grow up? Does that make any sense? Some days I can't wait for Sadie to grow up and be able to communicate and say things like "Yes, Mom" and "I'm upset because _____" and for her to be more independent. Then there are days like this one where we reach a small milestone and I find myself thinking "Wait! Wait! This is happening already? She was just a baby! Don't go my little Sadie! Don't grow up!". I read an article that one of my friends posted on their blog titled "Don't Carpe Diem" and it was seriously one of the best posts I've read about how I feel about motherhood most of the time.(If your a mom or ever were, you should read that article!) I love Sadie and I love being a mom but most of the time it's really hard! Maybe it isn't that way for all moms but for me, Sadie is pretty challenging most of the time. It's probably due to the fact that she is hyperactive 99.9% of the time that she is awake. In this article/post the author talks about kairos and chronos time and when Sadie was getting her hair cut I was definitely having a kairos moment.

It’s regular time, it’s one minute at a time, it’s staring down the clock till bedtime time, it’s ten excruciating minutes in the Target line time, it’s four screaming minutes in time out time, it’s two hours till daddy gets home time. Anyways, as I have mentioned before we are loving having my sister Jentry so close by and she was more than happy to come over and give Sadie her first haircut. I could have gone to cost cutters but I feel like Sadie wouldn't have held as still and why pay $10 when Jentry will do it for free right? Also, with most hair stylists I'm pretty hesitant to tell them if I hate the haircut they just gave me but since Jentry is my sister I have no problem saying "I think that looks like crap." Note: I've never actually had to say that to Jentry. Moving on. 

Sadie has been picking up new words left and right lately. Her current vocabulary consists of Mama, Dad, NO, bath, ball, hat, shoes, trash, blankie, uh-oh, baby, Bryce, pretty, and the two newest are "nice" and "what?".  The word nice because we are dealing with some attitude problems lately, and I don't really know why she decided to pick up saying what all the time. Since I blogged for so long about this haircut thing I guess I could show you some pictures of what it looks like now...p.s- She's doing this thing lately where she won't look directly into the camera. Probably because it's in her face quite a bit. So I have to trick her by singing a song or saying "Sadie! Look! A dog!" (she LOVES dogs) and that only works half of the time. She's catching on to my tricks. She's 17 months old and already rebelling. Wowza. The pictures in the red dress are from today. I couldn't help wanting to take pictures of that little outfit. p.s.s I am just noticing now that in the pictures with the red dress her bangs look really uneven. It's all the headband's fault! At least you can tell in the first picture that they look normal.

Light bulb moment

Kadi and her new sunroof!

As many of you know my beloved 92 Toyota Camry recently died a most glorious death and is currently resting in peace along side many of my other cars at the Loveland auto salvage yard (moment of peace). This means that we had to find a new car and fast. After a long search we found a car that would fit our budget and needs, and it was a mere coincidence that the car had a sunroof. A sunroof has never been a big deal to me but I soon came to find out what a huge deal it was for Kadi. I thought that this would be the car I would take to and from work but I was sorely mistaken. A happy wife is a happy life, so voila Kadi and her new sunroof!

We have noticed lately that when we let Sadie run around by herself she never looks back to see if we are still there, she is perfectly happy being free, and independent. It is easy to see in this video how much anxiety she has when I tell her that I will see her later. -Josh

Sadie really enjoyed walking in the snow, I think it was the crunch under her feet that caught her attention. -Josh

We spent the morning in Estes today, and while walking around I noticed this on the sidewalk. I am just so grateful that somebody is intercepting the grease, who knows what would happen if it were allowed to flow uninhibited. -Josh
